Abbeyfeale Housing Scheme

Every effort has been made to sit the buildings comfortably in the site and to complement the existing built environment of Abbeyfeale.

We undertook an assessment of the vernacular structures of the town and in general they fit the mould of small Irish Towns – regular and in-line fenestration, high solid to void ratios (the younger the buildings are the less solid to void in the ratio) with a simple palette of render and slate.

The layout of the scheme was the conclusion of a process which examined many different approaches. This was the result as it best created safe play spaces as well as an identity for the area.
